Hello friends,
decided to do a little picture blog in this one as I've been taking some good shots, so not MUCH writing but more pictures of current events. This week Monday the moon came up and it was magnificent and almost felt like you could reach out and touch it....

About 9pm on Thursday night Aaron (MET Tech looking after Bureau Of Metrology stuff) came to my room telling me there was a fairly bright Aurora happening. Temperature was about -20c so I dressed warmly knowing if it was good i didnt want to have to come back in. I ended up staying outside for 3 hours and think I got some fairly good shots.........walking from one spot to another though I was wearing a head torch and had the red light on as to not ruin my night vision slipped on a rock coming down full weight on my right knee on another pointed rock. Ultimately I got something called housemaid knee.....LOL not too bad and its quickly getting better and worth it for the shots.......

Still don't know what an Aurora Australis is caused by have a look at this little GIF i found on the Science Nature Page on Facebook probably the best wordless way of showing someone how it works.........
So the week before last I wrote a article in the Antarctic Divisions Davis station Icy News
(THIS ONE). My story was about winterising machines some of the pictures that didn't make it into the article below...........

Temperatures have been hovering between -15c and -23c in the last week. Here is a puddle of water frozen quickly reminding me of
hoar frost that I once saw in Canada..........
